The recent ash cloud crisis saw airlines largely deciding for themselves whether or not to continue flying. Ryanair’s Michael O’Leary even declared the ash ‘mythical’ after carrying out his own assessment of the airbourne contamination.

(Un) cool as a cucumber
Right now I feel really sorry for cucumbers. In one week they have gone from being favourites in sandwiches and salads to being cast onto the rubbish tip even if they are nowhere near their sell by date.
